Kurt’s inspiration for the title “Heart Shaped Box” came from when Courtney gifted him a heart shaped box when she was first interested in him.

 

Courtney confessed to Dave Grohl that she had a crush on Kurt, and when Dave told her Kurt was suddenly single, Courtney sent Kurt a heart-shaped box filled with a tiny porcelain doll, three dried roses, a miniature teacup, and shellac-covered seashells.

 

Courtney tweeted that “Heart Shaped Box” is about her vagina and that she assisted writing.

 

No it´s not about her vagina!!! The world doesn’t rotate around her vagina as she thinks.

The lyrics and the video are about they´re relation though, an unstable romance between the two and the role they’re daughter came to play in his life.

Pisces and Cancer are Cobain’s and Love’s respective astrological signs and Kurts´s perception of one character dominating over another:

“She eyes me like a Pisces when I am weak”

An heart-shaped box was one of the first gifts Courtney Love (Mitchell) gave him:

“I’ve been locked inside your heart-shaped box for weeks”

Remember this was written when things were definitely already going sour:

“I’ve been drawn into your magnet tar pit trap

I wish I could eat your cancer when you turn black”

A “tar pit trap” isn’t the most flattering way of describing someone to say the least, the other verse obviously reflects a sentiment of impotence to deal with her dark side.

As for the symbolism in the video note that the poppies represent heroin and the girl, his daughter, throwing them away represents the change that she brought to his live, getting rid of the habit, for her. This can also be perceived in the almost dying man (Cobain) lying in the hospital bed and being kept alive with an IV of a baby (his daughter), meaning she was the thing that was keeping him alive.

The first title to this song was “Heart Shaped Coffin” and had the verse “I’ve been buried inside your heart-shaped box for weeks”

Thinking that this is a love song of appreciation for her is at least being in denial…

This is one of the most depressing music/video ever and reflects his relation.

And the sexist argument does´t work either, no one hates Courtney because she is an “unapologetically outspoken person”, by that logic people would hate Rosa Parks, Benazir Bhutto, Malala Yousafzai etc. people hate her because everything in her is an act, she’s a chronic liar and has a skunkie, uninteresting demeanor.

No one will ever forgive her for selling Kurt’s journals – his most private thing – to the press just to make some bucks for her despicable and expensive lifestyle, or for selling her part in Nirvana’s music rights to some corporation (Primary Wave Music), later accusing Kermit the frog of “raping Kurt’s memory” for singing one of his songs…

Kurt was more anti-sexist than she will ever be, the only thing she can do is show her tits and mumble illiterate crap in an incoherent way while crawling those red carpets.

Collecting tons of evidence about death, especially suicide material, is more than just a hobby…

 

Life doesn’t mean much if you cannot have fun. Stuck in reality, stuck in everyday problems and hateful situations… Committing suicide doesn’t always mean that you kill yourself. Marriage is a slow suicide, having children, having a job you hate, eating the same processed food, smoking, drinking soft drinks full of sugar or alcohol, having stress, owning properties, driving, flying, walking, exercising… We are all suicidal, we just need our time with life first, we want suicide to be painless, to last long and to be acceptable by society… SOCIETY… Forces us to make decisions, to find money, to eat, drink, fuck, reproduce, deposit, travel, socialize, accept, prepare, discover, love, hate… It is forcing us to kill ourselves… But not instantly, not in a moment, this is bad, not acceptable, against the laws of faith… Because it is not forced, because it is your choice… You don’t deserve to have a choice, you need to follow leads, to obey, to abide…

I see all suicides as forced murders that victims obey to do to themselves… There is always a reason, some reasons are pretty dumb for most, some are very important, inevitable decisions… So, how can someone tell if another person has forced someone to commit suicide?

Watching Soaked In Bleach (2015) by Benjamin Statler, a great in-depth documentary about Kurt Cobain’s death, made me realize that a suicide scene can serve as a great cover-up scene for a murder. I don’t know what exactly happened with Kurt, but the whole idea and theory moved me… I can remember watching MTV News back in ’94 and hearing about his death a day or two after they found him. Nirvana meant a lot to me as a teenager, I needed that sort of energy and message, it was filthy and attractive, disgusting and sexy, Kurt was a great artist, really inspiring, an underdog… He made a billion dollars, but he didn’t want it, he couldn’t handle it… Others around him could use the money, they needed his money, his legacy, his copyrights. All the right motives for murder, the right alibis… It makes you think… Even if there was no hired gun, no hit-man, I believe that the suicide was forced in one way or another…

So, what if a suicide is forced? Is it a crime, is it murder? If you don’t have a video tape or strong evidence, suicide is a suicide… It is accepted when police does it, or if it is all about the namus, the ethical shit— SO, IS IT LEGAL IF ANYONE TRIES IT? It is a very interesting point of view… It makes you think of all the opportunities…
